Since the pacing and foreshadowing are so rough in Spellwright I would recommend starting the series with Spellbound, even though doing so would massively spoil Spellwright. A diverse and entertaining cast The characters in Spellwright—Nicodemus, Shannon spellbkund Dierdre—were absolutely amazing.
You get glimpses here and there, but that’s it.
Really looking forward to the last book in the trilogy! Francesca is a charming protagonist, even if she is stubborn, fierce and, at times, quite grumpy. I’ll try to avoid too many spoilers.

For all it’s flaws it’s an entertaining chxrlton, with an engaging story and wonderful world and characters.
Not that I mind spontanuous encounters like that, but within two days their lives have been turned upside down, there is that dude that has a long history with her and Nico is, let’s face it, super socially awkward you would be too, running half naked in the dark only able to touch ugly kobolds. Charlton has improved as a writer and that blessing is evident throughout this book. I went into this with high expectations after reading Spellwright, and I was still blown away.

Charlton as a reader is that I wanted to hear from Nico. These events take place ten years after the other book and you are thrown in rather abruptly to this world – despite having read the previous book – with the new character, Frencesca. The beginning had me all kinds of confused and uncertain, but once THOSE two met, it completely and utterly got me hooked. The magic system was already unique, but now we get a chance to see that the rest of the world is as well!

She discovers that she is doomed to murder someone she loves, soon, but not who. Although the pace slows down a bit after the start, there aren’t any dull moments, because something is always going on or something is going to happen soon.
Keep in mind, if you were to tell me about how your cat gives you a xharlton meow after you step out of the shower every morning, the harm is already done.
Ten years after the events of Spellwrightthe physician Francesca DeVega discovers that her city of Avel is now secretly controlled by the demon Typhon, in preparation for the Disjunction, a prophesied demonic invasion. It was great that the author explored new areas in Spellbound. As the protagonist of the previous book adjusts to his new abilities, seeking fulfilment in the full recovery of his faculties. Character interaction is almost flawless and the dialogues are well written.
There was so much word building, so much potential for things to come, that not reading the second book would be a crime. I kept having to break the book down into pieces. What if This epic fantasy adventure is about magical systems and how those imbued with magic have to cope with the way it bends and warps their lives in unimaginable ways.

Here’s a bit of information about Nicodemus and Francesca: His main purpose was to move characters in and out of a war zone, as well as provide a little sexual tension and some drama. As chaos spreads across Ixos, Leandra and her troubled family – her misspelling wizard father Nicodemus Weal and dragon-of-a-mother Francesca DeVega – must race to uncover the shocking truth about a prophesied demonic invasion, human language, and their own identities-if they don’t kill each other first.
